On December 8 the BSWN conducted the third virtual session of the Black Sea Experts NucTalks. The webinar was dedicated to the basic knowledge of radiation protection and how to navigate an oversaturated information space.
The session was moderated by Dr. Valeriia Gergiieva – a Visiting Fellow at the IFSH at the University of Hamburg and a Research Fellow of the Odesa Center for Nonproliferation. The NucTalk gathered around 22 participants from Georgia, Ukraine, Austria, Turkiye, Germany, the USA, Moldova, and Serbia. The discussion covered the essential knowledge of radiation, countries’ experience, and reliable sources of knowledge about radiation.
Following the presentation, an open conversation took place on the crucial role of radiation education and awareness. Participants shared their thoughts on their countries’ educational gaps and discussed the possibility to improve knowledge of such relevant topics. All participants agreed on the importance of cooperating and discussing radiation protection during future events including especially those targeting the young generation.
