Call for Essays: Voices of the Next Generation on Black Sea Nuclear Security
The Black Sea Women in Nuclear Network is pleased to announce the 2026 Student Essay Competition, organized in conjunction with its Annual Regional Conference “The Nuclear Workforce: Building Security, Driving Progress,” which will take place in Sofia from 28–30 April 2026.
The competition aims to highlight the perspectives of emerging scholars and practitioners on the evolving nuclear landscape in the Black Sea region. Students are invited to submit original essays exploring critical challenges and opportunities related to nuclear security, non-proliferation policy, regional nuclear energy developments, and the implications of emerging technologies.
The authors of the three top winners will receive a full travel grant to attend the BSWN Conference in Sofia, where they will have the opportunity to present their work to a community of regional and international experts.
The competition is open to citizens of Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Türkiye, and Ukraine who are currently enrolled in undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral programs, or who have graduated within the past two years.
