6th STATEMENT

of Black Sea Women in Nuclear Network (BSWN) on the recent missile attacks in Ukraine

The Black Sea Women in Nuclear Network (BSWN) stands in heartfelt solidarity with our members, their families, and all those affected by the recent missile attacks in Ukraine. We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of nine innocent children in Kryvyi Rih, who were killed, unable to reach safety in time. Our thoughts are with their families, and we join our members in calling for prayers for the souls of these children and all victims of this ongoing war.

We are profoundly moved by the resilience of our Ukrainian members who have shared their experiences of enduring these attacks. The shockwaves, the sound of alarms at 4:57 a.m., and the mere three minutes between warning and explosion underscore the unimaginable fear and disruption faced by communities in Ukraine. We are relieved to hear that our members are safe, and we extend our gratitude to people from BSWN for their messages of support during this difficult time.

As an organization dedicated to fostering peace and security in the Black Sea region, BSWN condemns all acts of violence that threaten the lives and well-being of our communities. We call for an immediate end to hostilities and urge the international community to prioritize the protection of civilians, especially children, who bear the heaviest burden of conflict.

To our members in Ukraine and across the region, we are here for you. BSWN is committed to supporting our community through these challenging times, whether by providing a platform to share your experiences, advocating for peace, or connecting you with resources for support. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us at bswnconferences@gmail.com if you need assistance or simply a space to connect.

Together, we will continue to work toward a future where safety, security, peace, and justice prevail for all in the Black Sea region.

In solidarity,
Mădălina Ștefanic
